AFFF 3 % FOAM CONCENTRATE

Fomtec AFFF 3% is an aqueous film forming foam concentrate (AFFF) consisting of a blend of fluorocarbon-, hydrocarbon surfactants and various solvents and stabilisers. Only C6 Pure fluorosurfactants are used in Fomtec AFFF-formulations. Fomtec AFFF 3% utilises the unique film forming effect to cut off oxygen supply to the fire and the oleophobic properties of the foam enables a stable foam blanket to suppress reignition of the fire.

Description

Fomtec AFFF 3% is a high-performance, C6-based aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) concentrate designed for rapid suppression of Class B hydrocarbon fires and effective control of Class A combustibles. The formulation uses pure short-chain C6 fluorochemistry, ensuring excellent fire performance with strong environmental compliance.

The concentrate is used at 3% proportioning (3 parts concentrate, 97 parts water) and can be applied with both fresh and seawater. It is compatible with low and medium expansion foam equipment and is available in freeze-protected versions for cold-climate operations.

Applications

Fomtec AFFF 3% is certified and tested for use in demanding, high-risk environments:

Suitable for:

  • Storage tanks and fuel terminals

  • Process areas and loading racks

  • Waste and recycling facilities

  • Marine vessels and offshore platforms

  • Airports and ARFF vehicles (ICAO Level B approved)

It is also effective on Class A materials such as wood, textiles, paper and other porous solids.
For Class A firefighting, induction ratios of 0.3% – 1% may be used depending on equipment.

Features

  • Pure C6 short-chain fluorochemistry

  • Approved to EN 1568, MED (Wheelmark), ICAO Level B, GOST

  • Suitable for Class A and B fires

  • Low and medium expansion foam

  • Freeze-protected options available

  • Effective in both mobile and fixed systems

Fire Performance & Foaming

Fire performance is certified under international standards:

  • EN 1568 Part 3 – Class IB (Fresh & Sea Water)

  • ICAO Level B (4th Edition 2014)
