Directions for Use
1. Soaking Method
The soaking method is an efficient way to remove heavy deposits from engine parts.
-
Dip the parts into Carbonclean LT™.
-
Use a wire basket for small components.
-
For light deposits, dilute up to 1:2 with fresh water.
-
Light contamination is removed within 1 hour.
-
Heavy deposits may require overnight soaking.
After cleaning, rinse all components thoroughly with water. Because the product has a very low evaporation rate, no special precautions are needed to prevent loss, although good ventilation is recommended.
2. Cleaning the Oil Side of Heat Exchangers (in-situ)
Carbonclean LT™ can be circulated through the heat exchanger using the Unitor™ Chemical Cleaning Unit (CCU), product no. 737189.
Procedure
-
Disconnect oil inlet and outlet and drain remaining oil.
-
Connect CCU discharge to the lower heat exchanger connection.
-
Connect the return line back to the CCU.
-
Add Carbonclean LT™ to the CCU drum.
-
Product may be diluted to 25% with fresh water.
-
Heat the solution to max 60°C and maintain temperature during cleaning.
-
Circulate for up to 12 hours depending on the level of fouling.
-
Drain the cleaning solution.
-
Rinse with fresh water until clear.
-
Drain and dry the heat exchanger.
The CCU can also be used for standalone soaking or circulation cleaning. This ensures effective carbon removal while reducing chemical consumption.
