Unitor Descalex – Powerful Descaling and Rust Removal

Unitor Descalex is a high-strength, acid-based descaling powder designed to remove rust, scale and mineral deposits from boilers, heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators and engine cooling systems.
It is widely used across the marine and industrial sectors to restore efficiency, improve heat transfer and reduce fuel consumption.

When used together with the Unitor Chemical Cleaning Unit (210 L), Descalex™ provides safe and controlled circulation cleaning of systems affected by scale and corrosion.

Effective Scale and Rust Removal

Descalex quickly dissolves:

• Scale and mineral deposits

• Rust and corrosion build-up

• Hard water deposits inside cooling water channels

• Fouling inside condensers, evaporators, calorifiers and heat exchangers

Heating the solution to approx. 60°C significantly improves cleaning performance.
The solution also contains a colour indicator, making it easy to see when the product is active or neutralised.

Safety and Compatibility

Descalex™ contains strong acids and must be handled with care.
Use appropriate PPE and follow the SDS at all times.

Not compatible with:

• Aluminium

• Zinc

• Tin

• Galvanized surfaces

Gas formation during descaling (CO₂ and hydrogen) requires proper ventilation and safe purging after cleaning.
Always check for a safe atmosphere before entering confined spaces.

Directions for Use

1. Pre-clean oily or greasy equipment with Unitor Seaclean Plus or Unitor Enviroclean.

2. Prepare a 2.5–10% Descalex™ solution, depending on the level of scaling.

3. Circulate the solution with the inlet at the bottom to avoid trapped gases.

4. When the red colour disappears, the solution is neutralised.

5. The solution may be reactivated by adding more Descalex™ (max. twice).

6. After cleaning, rinse with fresh water and neutralise with 0.5% Nalfleet™ Alkalinity Control.
